DUNES FILMS

Dunes Films S.L. is a company established in the Canary Islands since 2007. It was founded by María Sanz Esteve to develop and expand logistical support and services for other film, television, and advertising production companies (regional, mainland Spanish, and international) and to undertake in-house productions. These include the documentary *Desde la otra orilla* by Javier Camarasa and short films such as *Neuroyerto* by Alvaro Matías Sanchez; *Serendipia*, *El Regalito*, *Tregua*, *Ilusión*, and *Desmadres* by Maria Sanz Esteve; and *Lo que tu me has hecho a mi* by Diego Betancor. We have co-produced the short films *Rutina* by Sebastián Álvarez Castro, *Taxi Please* by Lorenza Machín, and *La caja de Medea* by Samuel Alarcón, and we are an associate producer of the short film *Las Gafas* by Alberto García.

Other successful projects developed by Dunes Films include the Fuerteventura Dunas Film and Video Festival (seven editions), the LGBTQ+ Film Showcase (nineteen editions), the organization of film series and workshops designed to foster values through cinema, and the creation of the *Las Alas de la memoria* (Wings of Memory) website, dedicated to preserving intangible historical heritage.

Dunes Films was a founding member of the Canary Islands Audiovisual Cluster. It has been a member of CIMA (Association of Women Filmmakers) since its inception and belongs to MICROCLIMA (Canarian Filmmakers Association); the company also collaborated on the creation of the Fuerteventura Film Commission.

We currently have several projects in various stages of development, spanning both fiction and documentary genres.

Drawing on the experience we have gained, we have decided to focus on developing the *La isla de los prodigios* (The Island of Wonders) project, with the aim of raising the profile of—and highlighting the value of—our region’s culture, identity, and history.

My experience spans roles such as assistant director, head of locations and production, and casting director for extras and small roles—working on everything from major blockbusters to independent films. I also curate film series and workshops designed to foster values through cinema, and I write and direct short films and video art pieces.
